HOW WE STARTED
It all starts in 2019
The Solihull Griffins basketball club was established in 2019 with a clear mission: to create an inclusive environment where individuals of all genders and backgrounds could engage in the sport. Recognising the need for greater diversity in basketball, the club aimed to provide opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender, to participate and excel. This initiative was particularly significant in a region where access to basketball for all genders was limited. By offering a platform that welcomed all, the Griffins sought to foster a community where teamwork, skill development, and mutual respect were paramount. Their efforts contributed to a more inclusive sports culture in Solihull, encouraging broader participation and breaking down traditional barriers in the sport.

Free school meal camps

In Solihull, the Arden Griffins Basketball Club, through its community initiative Crossover Basketball, has been actively supporting children eligible for free school meals by organizing free basketball camps during school holidays. These camps are part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, which aims to provide enriching activities and nutritious meals to children from reception to Year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals.
The basketball camps, such as those held during the Easter holidays, offer children the opportunity to engage in physical activity, learn new skills, and enjoy healthy meals in a supportive environment. By participating in the HAF Programme, Arden Griffins Basketball Club helps ensure that children in Solihull have access to valuable experiences that promote their well-being and development during school breaks.
